Im watching the 49ers doc (which is quite good) and when Dwight Clark makes The Catch the 49ers go up 1 with 51sec left in the game. Everyone on the 49ers and in the crowd goes absolutely nuts
But what I found interesting is in today’s nfl you’d think they left too much time on the clock. The Cowboys had 51 seconds and 1 time out only needing a FG
Even the documentary treated The Catch as the end of the game. No mention at all of the stop to close out the game. Pretty fascinating how these last minute drives have changed over the years
