I know I’m late to the party, but I wanted to (re)watch all Star Wars shows and movies in order (I’ve seen Mandalorian and others before, but wanted to make it a whole experience) and when I go by chronological, *The Acolyte* is supposed to be the first watch.
I know about the controversy back when it launched and got cancelled, but I didn’t put too much time into all of that as I simply wasn’t interested.
So now with me watching the show for the first time I have to say… it‘s bad. Like really bad. After 20 minutes in I was already cringing - what are these costumes? What is the makeup? The CGI? This looks like a Syfy show from the late 2000s / early 2010s and apparently costed several hundred million dollars? Are you fucking kidding me?
Not only do the costumes look like Halloween travesty in most of the cases, the greenface woman making me laugh out loud or those terrible dialogues - the acting is really C-list quality, at best.
I just finished the first episode and I’m really astounded by how bad it is. Whereas *The Mandalorian* showed most of its qualities in season 1 and early episodes already, I’m kinda dreading what comes next here. After suffering 40 minutes though this show, I‘m pretty sure the cancellation was more than warranted.
I just want to know: how can this happen? Spending several hundreds of millions of dollars for a TV in the biggest cinematic universes and you’re getting… this? How?
