Michigan homer here, so this isnt OSU bias. Also, plenty other threads to discuss cheating. This is about the ranking process.

UM started the year #2 and has stayed there by looking dominant against unranked opponents. OSU has looked vulnerable, but has beaten two opponents ranked in the top 10. Yet UM is still ranked ahead because the experts guessed they’d be really good before a snap was ever played.

Yes, in this case they’ll play head to head, but what if it was a 7-0 SEC team ranked #2 with only scrubs they beat up on and OSU #3? It then compounds bc you get extra credit for beating highly ranked teams.

Tl:dr - preseason rankings are so powerful they override actual on-field wins.
