Original Title: Congratulations to the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots for going worst-to-first in the 2025-26 season! Of the teams that finished last in their divisions this year, which one(s) will have the greatest odds to do the same in 2026-27?

Most years in the NFL, at least one team goes from 4th place to 1st place in their divisions the next season. Since 2002 realignment this has only not happened THREE times. The last place teams this past season were the:

  • Jets
  • Browns
  • Titans
  • Raiders
  • Giants
  • Lions
  • Saints
  • Cardinals

Which of these teams have the best shots at going worst-to-first?

My personal fandom biases aside, the Lions feel like the strongest contender here. We won the division the two years prior to 2025, so it wouldn’t be too out of the ordinary for where our franchise is right now. A little more consistency in our game and a healthier team and I could see it. Division will likely be a GRINDER again though.

My sleepers here are the Saints and Giants, I think both teams could surprise next season (NFCS is a dumpster fire, and the Giants have some pieces in place already, plus an upgrade at coach). Browns too if they can figure out that QB situation, since that defense should still be good (although Jim Schwartz leaving may hurt).

Of the remaining teams, I just think the rest of their respective divisions will be significantly better. Jets feel like a #1 pick contender, Cardinals are in a BRUTAL division, Titans need a lot of help, Raiders are in a tough division as well. I’d be personally very surprised if one of those teams did it.

Let me know what you think!
