Today marks a woeful day in the 2023 dolphins season, as Sunday October 22nd was the date Chase Claypool played his very first snap as a Miami Dolphin.
Coming in to this game, the Dolphins had the #1 rushing offense in the league, averaging 182 rush yards per game. Tragically, the Dolphins were only able to put up 45 rush yards tonight, as many of you may know. However what many of you may not know, is that the week Chase Claypool played for the team with the best run offense so far, his former team the Chicago Bears lead the league in rush yards with 173.
Interestingly enough, both the Chicago Bears and the Dolphins had 162 rush yards last week. What is exceptionally more interesting is when you examine the rushing spilts of teams with and without Chase Claypool.
To break it down:
- Claypool Curse on the Bears (3 games with Claypool, 4 without)
- 2023 Bears rush ypg with Claypool: 102
- 2023 Bears rush ypg without Claypool: 171
- 2023 Bears PPG with Claypool: 15.7
- 2023 Bears PPG without Claypool: 27.8
- 2023 Bears record with Claypool: 0-3 (0-11 through two seasons)
- 2023 Bears record without Claypool: 2-2 (Both losses were one score games)
- Claypool Curse on the Steelers (8 games with Claypool, 9 without)
- 2022 Steelers rush ypg with Claypool: 94.9
- 2022 Steelers rush ypg without Claypool: 146
- 2022 Steelers PPG with Claypool: 15
- 2022 Steelers PPG without Claypool: 20.9
- 2022 Steelers record with Claypool: 2-6
- 2022 Steelers record without Claypool: 7-2 (Both losses were one score games)
- Claypool Curse on the Dolphins (1 game with Claypool, 6 without)
- 2023 Dolphins rush ypg with Claypool: 45
- 2023 Dolphins rush ypg without Claypool: 181.8
- 2023 Dolphins PPG with Claypool: 17
- 2023 Dolphins PPG without Claypool: 37.2
- 2023 Dolphins record with Claypool: 0-1
- 2023 Dolphins record without Claypool: 5-1
In conclusion, the Miami Dolphins will be lucky to win 3 more games this season. I am truly sorry for Dolphins fans, you all must pray Claypool never has a reception, or god forbid, a touchdown, hence the Curse may take full effect. This is exceptionally concerning, as all evidence right now indicates the strength of the Curse increases each time he is traded.
