I watched this for the first time about a year ago. Jude Law puts in a weirdly engaging performance as a uniquely unhinged character who, due to “palace intrigue” and mechanations, was placed in a position he never should have been in, and proceeds to blow it to kingdom come. It’s a strange combo of hilarious, shocking, touching and wackiness that I hadn’t seen before. I didn’t know about it during its initial run and didn’t see how it was received. Do people still watch and think of this show?
