I thought season 1 was pretty good. The modern day story seemed to be all over the place and it just felt aimless. Last episode seemed promising as the story could really go somewhere.
However, in season 2 it felt like they had absolutely no idea what direction they wanted to take the show. They kept teasing about the possibility of supernatural stuff happening but it was so vague that it wasn’t even that interesting anymore. Too much filler stuff. The season could have been much better if they cut some stuff and tried to make it like a 5 or 6 episode season.
Season 3 started badly. The group was barely staying alive inside the cabin and now they just figured things out while in the freezing temperatures? They just handwaved it. First half of season 3 was super slow. Mostly because they kept running around the same stuff for ages. It’s trying to be a slow burn but the material isn’t interesting enough. With some changes the stuff would have been much better.
Last half of season 3 was pretty ok. The show finally seemed to be on some sort of track. Last season should have no problem wrapping things up nicely even though I think the story overall failed to live up to the potential.
In short, season 1 good, season 2 seemed to be confused on what it wanted to be, season 3 slowly climbed its way back to the track but the show overall is rather messy. Season 4 is unlikely to be anything amazing but it might make the overall show a bit lore coherent experience.
