I’ve been thinking about how libertarian principles such as the non-aggression principle might apply in conditions where governments use private entities to crush freedom.

The standard response tends to be let companies do what they want, even if they want to do the dirty work of the state.

But if the state is constantly aggressing against us (sometimes) through the medium of private businesses and corporations, why can’t we respond with counter mandates/regulations on private business doing that dirty work in an effort to preserve freedom? For example, why can’t we ban companies from mandating vaccines? I view this as a response to previous aggression, in the same way that self defense isn’t a violation of the NAP.

Thoughts? I think ideally we shouldn’t ban this stuff, but we aren’t in ideal conditions.
