I enjoy TV.

Legal shows… not so much.

They get a lot wrong. A few big ones:

Instant trials

Real cases don’t resolve in one dramatic court scene. The defense of most cases takes time and multiple court dates.

Confessions solve everything

Confessions are rare and often create more problems than they solve.

Surprise evidence

Lawyers don’t pull last-second “gotcha” evidence. Rules are strict and predictable.

One lawyer does everything

Real cases involve research, preparation, and a lot of paperwork behind the scenes.

TV makes it look glamorous.

Real law is slower, quieter, and very procedural.

That gap in expectations causes a lot of frustration for people in real cases.
