So like any red blooded American college football fan you want to support our troops. But alas what do you do when two service academies face off? This week the first such match up takes place. And if you don’t have a Falcon in this fight here are some reasons you should support Air Force.
- Air Force has a legit chance to play in a New Years bowl. Wouldn’t you love to see the LSU defense crumble against the triple option, or Lincoln Riley give up 49 points and 700 yards rushing on his way to Chicago?
- Air Force is just better at football historically. We have 15 bowl wins to navy’s 12…but navy has been playing college football since 1891….literally a 64 year head start on us.
- Our coach is a USAFA grad who served on active duty and was part of the team that beat Texas in the 1985 Bluebonnet bowl. Their coach played for Baylor boo.
- Academics you ask? Well the Air Force Academy Dean is a friggin General who is both an engineer and a member of the bar. The navy as a civilian provost who went to Princeton.
- The Air Force final challenge for Freshman is literally climbing a mountain and carrying back a giant rock. The navy…they lube up a phallic statue and try to climb it. I’m not kidding.
- Do you hate Michigan for stealing your signs? Whelp the prime suspect is none other than a naval academy grad.
- Mascots. The Air Force mascot (real live falcons) will fly over your head at games and are birds of prey. The navy mascot (a goat) will literally eat the turf and poop on you.
- Presidential transport superiority. The President flies Air Force One. But wait…Marine One is part of the Navy. So basically the Navy is the Presidents Uber driver to the airport.
- The Air Force operates two legs of the nuclear triad. The Navy only one. It’s highly recommended to choose the side with more nuclear warheads.
- Finally the Air Force Academy sits 7,258 feet above sea level. Far far above that of West Point or Annapolis.
Go Air Force! Sink Navy!
