Original Title: Since 2008, Alabama is 106-6 at home. The six teams that beat them had a combined 68-7 record, three SEC championships, three Heisman winning quarterbacks, three national coach of the year award winners, and two BCS/CFP national championships.

I know this isn’t a Jimbo hitpiece, a Michigan spy story, Deion Sanders news, or lolUSC, but I thought these were some interesting factoids to share prior to the Third Saturday in October.

Since Saban’s second year in 2008, Alabama has a 106-6 home record. In these 15 seasons, the six teams that have beaten them in Tuscaloosa:

  • 2010 Auburn. Finished 14-0, ranked #1 in the AP poll, won the SEC Championship, won the BCS national championship, and Cam Newton won the Heisman. Chizik was recognized by multiple awards as the Coach of the Year (Home Depot, Bear Bryant, and now-defunct Liberty Mutual).

  • 2011 LSU. Finished 13-1, ranked #2 in the AP poll, won the SEC Championship, and of course lost the national championship rematch game to Bama. Miles was recognized by multiple awards as the Coach of the Year (AP, AFCA, Walter Camp, Home Depot, and now-defunct Liberty Mutual).

  • 2012 Texas A&M. Finished 11-2, ranked #5 in the AP poll, won the Cotton Bowl, and Johnny Manziel won the Heisman.

  • 2015 Ole Miss. Finished 10-3, ranked #10 in the AP poll, and won the Sugar Bowl.

  • 2019 LSU. Finished 15-0, ranked #1 in the AP poll, won the SEC Championship, won the Peach Bowl semifinal, won the CFP national championship, and Joe Burrow won the Heisman (along with pretty much every other award possible). Orgeron was recognized by multiple awards as the Coach of the Year (AP, AFCA, Walter Camp, Home Depot, Bear Bryant, and Eddie Robinson).

  • 2023 Texas. Currently 5-1 and ranked #8 in the AP poll. I don’t necessarily foresee any Heisman winners on this team, but the Longhorns’ season is still very much alive and well despite the recent loss to Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry.

The five teams prior to Texas beat a combined nine P5/AQ conference champions. Alabama lost those six games by an average margin of 5 points.

Alabama’s remaining home this year slate is Tennessee tomorrow, LSU on November 4, and Chattanooga on November 18.
