Original Title: In contrast to Mario Cristobal losing a game due to refusing to take victory formation, let’s remember the time that Mike Leach has WSU take victory formation on a PAT just to ensure nothing could possibly go wrong.

In one of the wildest editions of PAC-12 After Dark of all time, WSU beat Oregon State 54-53 in 2019. Oregon State scored a TD to give them an 11-point lead with 4:17 left in the game, but WSU quickly scored a TD to cut the lead to 5 with 2:10 remaining (2-point conversion no good). OSU proceeded to go 3-and-out, and WSU scored a go-ahead TD with 2 seconds remaining in the game.

Knowing that 2 seconds will expire on the subsequent kickoff, and OSU is essentially hoping for a runback at that point, Leach had WSU line up in victory formation and take a knee on the PAT just to ensure that something ridiculous like a blocked PAT returned for 2 points couldn’t happen.
