Can I just say that I am an absolute sucker for this storyline. Extra points when the enemy they’re teaming up with is a long term antagonist who has absolute ideological differences from the main character.
The best version of this plot is when the long term villain doesn’t betray at the last moment and instead departs with a new mutual earned respect between all parties.
