Last episode ends on a cliffhanger of Lucy and the ghoul encountering a deathclaw. THE deathclaw. The big baddie of Fallout. It teased a big showdown between them and the Deathclaw.

And then two more deathclaws surround them.

Cooper says “run!” and they do not run. They duck down behind a car. After all three of the deathclaws were looking right at them. And there’s an attempt at a suspenseful moment where one of the deathclaws peers over the hood of the car and “finds” them?

Cooper takes some kind of flame grenade out of his bag, tosses it 10 feet away, and shoots it, seemingly to distract the deathclaw. And they actually animated this deathclaw glancing at the firey explosion, and then looking back at Lucy and Cooper as they make their escape. It just sort of watches them run away.

As someone who played the fallout games, you always run away from a deathclaw, unless you’re a pretty high level with good gear. So them fleeing made sense. But it was just so poorly done.

why would cooper not throw the incendiary grenade AT the deathclaw?

And then they’re just outside the strip gates again, but it is now daytime, and they start talking about what has just happened as if it just happened a second ago. Lucy still has blood on her face from the ghouls they shot on their way in the previous night (my biggest pet peeve in film. If someone gets blood on their face, they wash it off at the first opportunity!)

And now there are people milling about the streets, when the town was abandoned when they arrived, and apparently crawling with ghouls and deathclaws?

What did they do when they escaped the deathclaws??? Stand there in silence until noon the next day?

Then Cooper mumbles that he’s going to get a drink. He goes to a bar, it is empty, despite the streets being full of people. I’m thinking okay, is he going to ask this bartender what the deal is with the deathclaws and feral ghouls in the middle of town?

But he does not bring it up. The bartender just smiles at him and HE brings it up like “How about those deathclaws?” And Cooper tells him to stop talking.
