Ok, so most of this is obviously related to McVay’s system but I just think it’s kind of fun how weirdly prevalent in the careers of head coaches Jared Goff is at this point and his work with Ben Johnson did also lead to a job with Chicago.

That said, McVay has only had 1 offensive coach get hired as a HC since Jared Goff was traded to Detroit in Liam Coen who was Assistant QB Coach for Goff in 2020. Since being traded Lions OC was poached to become the Bears coach largely in part to his work with Jared Goff and their hope of improving Caleb Williams game.

So current head coaches and tenure at the end of the regular season:

  • Sean McVay: HC - 9
  • Dan Campbell: HC - 5
  • Zac Taylor: QB Coach - 7
  • Matt LaFleur: OC - 7
  • Kevin O’Connell: OC - 4
  • Ben Johnson: OC - 1
  • Liam Coen: Assistant QB Coach - 1

HC records after coaching Jared Goff and without McVay and Campbell: 195-138-2 (58.5%).

Combined total record with McVay and Campbell: (excluding Stafford and Dolphins years) for fun: 286-195-3 (59.4%)

The only coach with a losing record is Zac Taylor.

Of the 7 coaches, 5 of them make up the 10 longest current tenure coaches in the league.

tldr: Almost a quarter of the league are Jared Goff merchants and someone should hire John Morton to be their head coach /s
