Drake Maye MVP supporters can look no further than last season when MVP Josh Allen ended up on the 2nd team for All-Pro selections but then won the MVP over 1st team All-Pro Lamar Jackson.
But that’s pretty much where it ends for our second teamers. Going back to 1990, excluding years where there were co-MVPs (2003 and 1997) 97% of the AP MVP were selected to the first team All-Pro. Josh Allen was the only player in the last 30+ years to win MVP after not making 1st team. This bodes well for Matthew Stafford.
