Series Synopsis
Evidently the British thriller “Red Eye” is an on-going series, and not a one-time mini series, as its second season was just released to iTV and streaming platforms starting on January 1, 2026.
The whole series follows investigations involving Hana Li, a London Detective who’s investigations lead her into the world of National Security.
Season 1 (S1) centers on Hana Li escorting Dr Matthew Nolan on a flight back to Beijing where he has been accused of a crime, but she finds herself embroiled in an escalating conspiracy and a growing number of murders.
Season 2 (S2) focuses on a besieged US Embassy in London tied to a threat toward an international flight to London.

My Brief Review of Season 2
Unlike S1’s trailer, I didn’t notice any part of the S2 trailer that spoiled any surprises. There’s only some character background that carries over from S1 to S2. So the stories of each season are largely self contained. There’s somewhat less focus on airplane-related matters in S2, though they are no less important.
The tension-building and some mystery is what kept me watching the series, and I found just as much of it in S2. There were some different types of twists in S2 that I enjoyed, though weren’t necessarily better crafted. Episodes are still paced well with suspenseful episode endings up to each season finale. It does well flashing back to earlier times & locations only when very relevant to each or all episodes, without showing too little or too much.
S2 requires suspension of disbelief for plot holes, similar to S1. I was more annoyed with a few security oversights in the first two episodes that resulted in additional disbelief from me. The action was decent and perhaps more of it given that it wasn’t mostly confined to a flight.
I found myself not as interested in the dynamics between Li and Brody, who already knew each other, being forced to work with each other as compared to Li and Dr Nolan getting to know each other & going through a lot on an airplane. There are other minor emotional plays later in S2, though they just didn’t happen to resonate with me personally.
I personally recommend S2 to anyone that’s up for a mindless international thriller series with solid suspense and acting.
