So it’s almost been a week since the Stranger Things finale dropped, and just about everyone has gotten around to watching the whole thing. And it feels like the majority of the fanbase hated the ending for one reason or another. Overall I satisfied with how it all wrapped up, and while I don’t think the ending is perfect. Is there even such a thing as a perfect ending?
I feel like when it comes to shows that get as big as Stranger Things does. The creators will never be able to satisfy everyone with the ending. No matter if they try or not some part of the fanbase is going to get burned. Like the complaints at the lack of deaths yes it is kind of ridiculous that everyone made it out of the final battle. In one piece a decision I think impacted the final battle and how rushed it felt. Because let’s face it if the final battle had went on longer, and included the demogrogons and demo-bats. It would’ve been a lot harder to end it without anyone dying. But yeah while I do believe at least one fan favorite should’ve died I get why they had a hard time picking one and just said forget it everyone lives.
There was a number of fans threatening to turn the finale off if Steve kicked the bucket at any point. Then you had that same number saying Dustin, Lucas, and Max better not die. Then there’s the fans saying Jonathan’s death would’ve been the safest, and fans arguing they better not touch the trio that is Steve, Nancy or Jonathan. And Robin better be safe because killing her off would be a copout. Killing Max or Hopper off wouldn’t have made a lot of sense either considering everything they’ve been through.
The thing that baffles me the most is fans wanting Will to have his happy ending with Mike, but at the same time everyone was also saying that El and Will both had to go down with Vecna because of their connection to him. So yeah it was always going to be a lose-lose situation with however the Duffer brothers ended it in my opinion. So I don’t blame them at all for going with the safe almost everyone gets to live, and you decide rather or not El is really dead or not ending.
Fans were probably going to bash the ending no matter what they did.
