With the loss to Alabama, Arkansas dropped to 0-4 in SEC play, putting their conference record ceiling at 4-4. Bama is 4-0 and LSU is 4-1. With these two teams still having to play one another, at least one will reach 5 wins, meaning Arkansas cannot win the division.
Vanderbilt’s loss to Georgia also dropped them to 0-4 in conference. It is still possible for them to be part of a 3 to 7 team tie atop the division at 4-4, but in any combination of teams, they would not win the tiebreaker.
A number of teams are on life support, but we’re still only about halfway through the season. And with more conferences moving away from divisions, the ability to play for a conference title by finishing in 2nd has more teams still holding on.
Facing elimination in week 8:
- Auburn with a loss
- Mississippi State with a loss
- South Carolina with a loss
- FIU with a loss AND a JSU win
