I thought I would look at where yesterday’s Rose Bowl postgame thread ranks among r/CFB’s most-upvoted posts. Famously, postgame threads for Alabama losses represent four of the top eight most-upvoted posts in this sub’s history, and nine of the top 25. The postgame thread for last year’s Vandy-Alabama game is the #2 all-time post, at over 36,000 upvotes.

Yesterday’s Rose Bowl postgame thread is currently sitting somewhere in the 12,000+ upvote territory, which places it somewhere between the #60 all-time post (the “Pickett Slide” being banned) and the #83 all-time post (about a Heisman voter acknowledging to Christian McCaffrey that they didn’t stay up to watch Stanford games). At #82 in sub history is the 2021 thread about Texas special teams coach Jeff Banks’s stripper girlfriend Pole Assassin’s monkey biting a trick-or-treater. That is apparently where the bar sits for a historic Alabama loss these days. How the mighty have fallen.
