Is Thwaites Still the ‘Doomsday Glacier’? Recent research has led scientists to new conclusions about the fastest melting glacier in Antarctica. Some are reassuring, others the opposite.

Basically:

• Some melt is guaranteed thanks to the amount of fossil fuels people have burned
• We aren’t yet at the point where we lose all Antarctic ice
• If we continue burning fossil fuels, a meaningful part of ice which is grounded below sea level will break apart and float away to melt later this century
