The Netflix series; Sex Education starring Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey and Ncuti Gatwa started off with being one of the best coming-of-age high school shows I’ve ever seen with its first season! But as the show progressed, it was slowly starting to lose its quality with the way they handled the writing of the plot and some of its characters!

One example that I found really affected the show, is how they handled the “will they, won’t they” trope between Otis and Maeve where the show gives a lot of hints of a potential romance between the characters! Maybe I had too much expectations around it, where I was expecting they’d have more screen time together along with having stronger confrontational moments.

But the more they dragged this storyline on, the less I started to care about the prospect of them getting together or remaining as a couple by the end of the show! I just didn’t feel convinced that these two actually really loved one another, and were more in love with the idea of each other.
