I just finished watching Pluribis and checked to see when the next season would release and early predictions are late 2027 - early 2028. When did 2+ years become the normal for tv shows?

Game of Thrones for example, where each episode was a spectacle and nearly its own movie, released a season every year. Why were they able to do so, when shows with way less characters and moving parts can’t?

Severance, House of the Dragon, The Boys, Pluribus, stranger things (most infamously) all have such long gaps. I hate it as a fan, but I’m also just curious as to why this has become a norm.
