Stanford had 3rd and 7 on the Colorado 16 yard line. Stanford then threw an incompletion and committed a personal foul. It would have been 4th and 7, but Deion decided to accept the penalty to make it a harder field goal. The problem is it only pushed Stanford back to the 31 yard line, making it a 46 yard field goal and Stanford’s kicker is 18 for 19 on field goals kicked from 40-49 yards. Stanford then capitalized on this by converting 3rd and 22, ultimately scoring a TD. Horrible coaching mistake by Deion which cost his team a touchdown for no reason.
