Just thought this was kind of interesting. I realized this when Lyle Hemphill was recently promoted to be Texas A&M’s next defensive coordinator starting next year.
- Corey Heatherman (current Miami DC) – JMU DC from 2019-2021
- Bryant Haines (current Indiana DC) – JMU DC from 2022-2023
- Lyle Hemphill (current Texas A&M assistant and recently promoted to DC) – JMU DC in 2024
- Colin Hitschler – current JMU DC
Two of these guys are Cignetti hires, but clearly Bob Chesney recognizes coaching talent as well, and it would be pretty surprising if Hitschler didn’t end up as a coordinator at a big-time program next year.
Another interesting thing is that I’m pretty sure most JMU fans would say that our defense this year is the best it has been out of each of these years.
