Back in 2020, before any vaccination was possible, I got hit with the virus.

The last time I felt that horrible was 20 years ago. I barely managed to get myself to my grandmother's home where she looked after me. I literally preferred being dead to suffering another moment of whatever was ailing me at the time. My body was 110% battle mode and made me feel like I was condemned to hell. Of course, grandma saw me through it. As grandmothers do.

But it sucked.

When I got hit with the 'rona, it was even worse than that. Grandma had already passed on. Even if she had not, there was no respite from what was happening.

If I were 20 years older and in worse general health, it would have easily done me in. As it has done to millions of other human beings.

I got the jab recently, because I am getting old and I would like to visit family soon without subjecting my sweet mother-in-law to this awful virus if I can help it. The chances she would not survive it are just too great for me not to do what I can to protect her. Liberty comes with concommitant responsibility.

If you have ever had an influenza jab, the experience is similar. Your whole body feels like the floor of a dirty taxi for a day or so. I would absolutely take that experience to what the 'rona does any day of the week. I would be completely gutted with guilt if I make someone else go through it.

For the crazies, here is some science:

The virus does not make you feel sick. It is not what kills at-risk people. It is your own body doing its thing that makes you miserable and in a minority of cases, kills.

A vaccine is just your immune system getting faked into learning about the proteins the virus presents, but does not go full Mad Max, Thunderdome over it. My experience is that this scrimmage is far better than the real deal.

It is always karma suicide when I say it: learn from the experience of others and make smart choices for yourself. For almost everyone in this community, that means making a rational assessment of cost/benefit and probably means getting the jab. Don't throw your toys out of the crib just because authoritarian assholes also recommend it. You, your family and your friends might actually benefit from you making a choice that is yours alone to make.

Also, resist state mandates. If ever there is a time in your life to stand up for liberty and say "no", now is the time. Your body. Your life. Your choice. Nobody else has any say in what you must do ... "or else". I am merely sharing my own experience, not telling anyone what they have to do.
