ShoutTV just stated streaming a sitcom that’s been relatively tough to get your hands on until this point. It’s called “Get a Life” and it stars Chris Elliot as an adult paperboy living at home with his parents. The show only got two seasons back when it aired in 1990 and it was actually cancelled before Fox reversed their decision and gave it a Season 2.

Watching it, it’s not hard to see why it had a hard time finding an audience back then. The main character is basically a psychotic sociopath and the sitcom itself doesn’t follow any rules or logic. There’s time travel, space aliens, and Chris Elliot dies more times than I can count. It’s not always that funny but I can appreciate the big swings they were taking, especially at a time when this would have been hard to keep going. (Apparently they fought the network often and worked hard to put in less family friendly humor and more psychotic behavior from the lead.)

Bob Odenkirk and Charlie Kaufman both worked on the writing staff too.

It’s steaming for free on ShoutTV and they’ve also been running a marathon on YouTube.
