I know this probably sounds like a pretty silly question, but what would people consider to be the “spine” of the Stargate universe? The film, since it came first?

Or the TV shows?

With franchises like the MCU, The Batman, and Star Wars, I consider the films to be the “spine” despite the large majority of screen material being TV episodes. On the other hand, the TV shows are clearly the “spine” for Star Trek.

Could the TV shows really be considered Stargate’s “spine” with the original film basically as a pilot film that just ended up being released in theaters?
