Gilmore Girls has the entire town populated with characters that pop in and out all the time. Scrubs has a whole gaggle of staff and patients. Community had a bunch of memorable side characters, some of whom even got worked into major storylines like Starburns. Perhaps most impressively, The Good Wife has an entire lived-in world of judges, lawyers, and clients that have their own quirks and personalities and major storylines lurking in the background.
What other shows have side characters who are so memorable and potentially even occasionally important to the story?
