We cut cable years ago, and use a $10 antenna to get 40 local channels, mainly for news and a couple of network shows. That’s it.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was on NBC last week, 8 PM. We thought, who doesn’t love this classic, lets watch it. Aside from endless commercials for meds where side effects include death, hair loss, suicidal thoughts and loss of erections, I noticed the show itself was lagging behind as the clock approached 9 PM. Well, it ran until 9:15 PM. Rudolph with his nose so bright, didn’t guide the sleigh last night until around 9:11 PM.

NBC added an extra 15 minutes of ads, padding the 45 minute original/60 minutes with commercials run time to 75 minutes, a full 30 minutes of ads for a 45 minute show.

As we endured another big pharma ad, we also wondered where the ads for toys and other children’s Christmas products were. Pharma ads, pharma ads, pharma ads. Cholesterol, PMS, Migraine, Diabetes and ED ads are of no use to kids. Target audience is the parents watching with the kids. Contact your doctor to see what Xylothoramiagomanidemide can do for you.

Rant is the extra 15 minutes of ads. Then it got me thinking. Survivor and The Amazing Race, the only network show we watch these days, have also had their run times extended to 90 minutes. I doubt the original program was extended. Another 30 minutes of ads inserted.

Absolute rubbish!
