This review of the episode by an anonymous IMDB user perfectly captures how I feel about both the latest couple of episodes (it focuses on episode 5 mostly but I think it applies to this last one as well) and the show overall:
\*“Blade Runner is my fave movie of all-time although people complain it's "slow" and "boring" etc. Those people need to see this episode. Somehow the show gets more tedious & empty with each episode. I'm not stupid, I understand slow-burn writing in general, and every emotional beat of this show and what it's attempting, but this gives the impression that Vince Gilligan is getting paid by the minute of show-time rather than by the page. A nice little earner indeed. Every quiet uneventful minute of Blade Runner is still filled with beauty and wonder and atmosphere.....90% of this episode is filled with: she looks annoyed, she stands up, she walks across the room, she picks something up, she walks back to the couch, she sits down again. She opens a door, she walks down a long corridor, she walks through another door etc etc all at snail's pace. One of the most obvious ways to make this more interesting would be to show us what the other unaffected people are doing, a lot more than they have so far. Why is that not happing? Budget constraints? Yes this kind of style has it's place at the right times in a story about an empty uneventful world such as this, but there has to be some kind of limit to how much ponderous procrastination one can fit into a 45 minute episode of TV that airs once a week, and this one breaks the limit more than any episode so far. What narrative and emotional/intellectual qualities the show does have (none being particularly original to sci-fi buffs) are spread out way too few and far between. Thank god for the 5 second skip button. I got through the episode without missing a thing in 20 minutes. Kind of an insult to what little time we have on this planet, maybe that's the point...but It's still boring, and not boring because I have a short attention span or don't "get it", just plain boring and time-wasting. I can't give it more than 3 / 10”\*
