Like “Firefly” and “Buffy”, the Netflix show “The Society” was supposed to continue as a graphic novel after its cancelation during the pandemic. I found an article from Variety with some partial interview quotes from the show’s creator, Christopher Gyser, who claimed that he had come within a few meetings of getting the work published, but that bubble burst when the publisher went under. In a different article, Gyser floated the idea of publishing the scripts for season 2, which were already written out prior to the cancelation of the show, but said this is unlikely because he wants to actually produce the show through some visual medium (thus the graphic novel).

Now, what do you guys think? Would you rather see the graphic novel, or the script compilation? Or maybe just wait it out and see if Netflix rekindles their interest in season 2 – it’s been so long, though, and the actors have aged enough that it would become a kind of “Stranger Things” situation of actors too old for their roles, meaning that any chance of it being produced and maintaining a consistent story would perhaps mean having to pull a “Twin Peaks” and introduce some significant time jump to account for the actors’ aging. Or do you prefer to sit and stir with your thoughts, content with the opinion that no plot twist or plot explanation will be as good as what you can concoct in your own head?
