I adore David Lynch, but imo some of his works are more of art projects than plot-driven stories. It got a little too crazy sometimes, and it felt a little like that was the main purpose: too make it as weird and complicated as possible.
And that is how I feel about The Chair Company. It has its funny bits, but I get stuck on how hard it tries to be weird and unusual. Tim does the same character that he does in everything, which is an annoying man-child who in real life would have been a social outcast, but of course here he has a super-understanding wife who puts up with all his antics and enables him to continue ruining their lives.
And the majority of the other characters in the show seems to be competing over who can be the weirdest by doing random acts that noone in a normal society would do, like they exist in a bizarro-world where normal is the anomali.
So what is the allure here? What makes this special?
(Edit - to clarify: I am not saying it is bad show, I like parts of it, maybe I sounded too critical. I just don’t get the massive praising, and want to know what makes it special to you)
