TV shows are meant to be cinematic and look cool, so when it comes to battles, the rule of cool and rule of drama usually prevails over sound military strategies. Realistic portrayals of battles can be interesting when done well, but most directors prefer to go for spectacle, or just plain don’t care. Also budget can be an issue.
The Star Wars movies have never been that good with reasonable tactics, and the Star Wars TV shows are often even more unreasonable (except Andor since it’s meant to be more grounded). But audiences accept it because space battles with lasers and robots look cool.
Sometimes though, the tactics are so bad that not even rule of cool is enough to prevent viewers from groaning at the sheer stupidity seen on-screen. A lot has been said about the questionable tactics of the main characters in the final season of Game of Thrones, especially the Siege of Winterfell, like how they assembled most of the armies outside of the walls and in front of a moat, then sent a Dothraki horde to attack the army of the dead head-on for no reason, which led to them all dying.
So what other TV shows employ pretty dubious tactics in battle?
