I am providing an update on this original post. BYU has continued its trend of performing well in games with no sunlight, okay in games with some sunlight, and amazing in games with no sunlight. The Vampire Cougs will have their greatest upcoming tests with both UCF and the Big 12 Championship Game in daylight.

Some updated stats:

  • Since 2019 BYU is now 43 - 4 (91%) in full night games, 9-5 in games with partial sunlight (64%), and 12 -16 in full day games (42%).
  • When you remove FCS games, the stats are even more stark. BYU was only 8 - 16 in full day games (33%) and 43-4 at night (91%).
  • BYU is 9-2 (82%) against ranked opponents with no sunlight, which is higher than its win percentage against G5 teams with full sunlight–8-8 (50%).
  • While BYU is 21-3 since the beginning of last year, 2 of its 3 losses have come during the day…
