I started watching Slow Horses and noticed that its first episode is actually the lowest-rated one of the entire show. That feels unusual to me. Usually the pilot is one of the strongest and best-rated episodes, right up there with season finales. Studios often put extra effort into the pilot because it has to hook viewers and sell the whole idea.

But the opposite - a show starting with its worst episode and then getting consistently better - seems pretty rare.

Do you know any other shows where the first episode is noticeably the weakest, but the series becomes great afterwards?
