...but, sadly, that's the only ray of light in this result. The libertarian party is "Liberalistene", with their magnificent 4505 votes (one of them mine), out of just under 3 million counted. In the pre-election polls they were occasionally as high as 1%, so I have to say I'm kind of disappointed in this. At least the actual literal "Norwegian Communist Party" got only 307 votes, but the party called "Red" ("Rødt") which does in fact have a centrally-planned economy in its program made a huge gain and got 12 seats (out of 169) in the legislature. And the very-moderately-right government will certainly be replaced by a not-so-moderate-left one.

Democracy, what is it good for?

Quirk of the Norwegian election system: A single-issue party called "Pasientfokus" which has never stood for election before got 4949 votes, only 20% more than the libertarians, and one seat in Parliament. Far-right "Demokratene i Norge" got 34k votes and no seats. The "Pasientfokus" votes were all in one sparsely-populated election district, the libertarian and nationalist voters were all over the country. Anyone want to start a Free Municipality Project in northern Norway? Admittedly the weather isn't as good as in NH.
