RIDGEFIELD, Wash. (KPTV/Gray News) – A woman in Washington state is accused of killing a man by putting fentanyl in his drink at a hotel and casino, according to court documents.

Raylin Benzie, 34, is facing charges that include murder, controlled substance homicide, placing poison or other harmful substances in a drink, robbery and theft.

According to court documents, officers with the Cowlitz Tribe Police Department were sent to the ilani Casino Hotel for a reported death on Oct. 5.

They found a 38-year-old man dead in a hotel room. He has been identified as Arslan. The victim had only one legal name, according to his driver’s license.

According to the documents, police believe that Benzie gave the man a deadly dose of fentanyl in his drink and then stole from him. She was arrested on Oct. 31.

During a police interview, Benzie said she decided to give Arslan fentanyl because she forgot to bring the “date rape drug” that she usually uses to put men to sleep before robbing them, the documents state.

Text messages from Benzie to friends reportedly detailed her plans to drug and rob the victim of his casino winnings.
