This makes me proud to be a Hawkeye:

Kelby Telander was a patient at the Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital - where child patients watch the Iowa Hawkeyes and receive the admiration of 75,000 fans during The Wave after the first quarter of Hawkeye home games. Patients at the hospital are selected to be kid captains and walk out with the team at each Iowa home game.

Kelby was one of those kid captains. He had offers from other schools before an injury damaged nerves in his hand.

Iowa kept the walk-on offer open, he accepted, and now has earned playing time on special teams. He’s listed as a sophomore LB.
