I’m a Seinfeld generation guy but overlapping that when it came to wanting a more serious story of friends and romance, A Different World was that for me. Dwayne Wayne and Whitley were definitely the Ross and Rachel. Of course Freddie (Cree Summer) was the Phoebe, from head to toe, and Jaleesa very much the type A Monica sort. Do other fans see some comparisons? Like Friends has no lasting memory to me, but A Different World hits a sweet spot of nostalgia.
