Sheffield Wednesday have recorded sales of more than £200,000 from the club shop as well as an additional 9,000 tickets for Saturday’s game following the appointment of administrators.

Julian Pitts, Kris Wigfield and Paul Stanley of Begbies Traynor were appointed joint administrators of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club Ltd and of Sheffield 3 Ltd, the company that owns the club’s stadium, on 24 October 2025.

The appointment brought to an end former chairman Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership of the championship.

The club have suffered significant financial issues in recent months, with fans also staging a series of protests and boycotts over Chansiri’s ownership.

They added: "The kiosks were packed with fans buying food and beer, and every bit of that support matters more than you can imagine.

“We came into this situation with only 24 hours to prepare for the weekend and very little cash available, but your response has been overwhelming. You’ve given us hope — and a fighting chance.”

The administrators confirmed that ticket prices for the upcoming game against Norwich City and the Steel City Derby with Sheffield United would remain at previously announced rates, but that a special discounted package would be introduced for the four remaining home fixtures of the year.

They thanked the Owls’ players and coaches, as well as staff who “worked tirelessly to get the North Stand ready” for Saturday’s game, including the removal of seats spelling out ‘Chansiri’. They also praised suppliers, local press, MP Clive Betts and the Supporters’ Trust.

They added: “This club has been through difficult times before, and every time it’s the same thing that gets us through — you, our incredible supporters. We’re not out of the woods yet. But together, we can rebuild this great football club and make Hillsborough a place we’re all proud of again.”
