So I watched episode 2 of DMV last night and noticed a lot of it borrowed very heavily from S1E2 of Abbott Elementary. I mean sure heat wave episodes are common in workplace comedies but not only are these both same episode-count of workplace comedies about underfunded public institutions but also both had parallels like meddlesome female protag trying to beat the heat touches things she shouldn’t and blows the power or episode ends with conversation about caring in parking lot with older black “mentor” figure and three of the heroes going out for something to eat or like the introduction of a romantic rival to what’s clearly being set up to be the main pairing or comedic c-plot about heat’s effect on food in work fridge
