I was thinking today of Seth Littrell, who was nearly hired at Kansas State after all his success at North Texas. He didn’t go, instead deciding to wait a year for a better job. Instead, the program declined and he was fired from UNT.
Are there any other examples like that–either coordinators or lower-tier head coaches who either waited too long or were simply unlucky when it came to getting offers? (Think Byron Leftwich in the NFL, a hotshot OC who missed his chance and got fired)
