Former professional footballer Royston Drenthe is “improving slightly every day”, according to his manager, Tjarda Zeggelink. Drenthe was admitted to hospital last Friday with a stroke.
Zeggelink cannot say much more about the recovery of the former player of Feyenoord, Real Madrid and Everton, among others. However, she does refer to the 38-year-old Drenthe as “a real fighter”. “The family and doctors are very hopeful,” she adds.
In 2023, the left-footed player officially hung up his boots. After his active career, Drenthe joined FC De Rebellen, a team full of veterans from the Dutch football world.
