I’m a girl, and I love the barbie movie. I connected with it on so many levels. I saw this Ken edit from the movie and so many people were hating, and it made me realise… why do people hate Ken? Yes, Ken did turn into an absolute asshole in his “patriarchy” phase, but did everyone miss so many important details? Ken only wanted Barbie to understand how it felt to constantly be rejected and have essentially nothing . While Barbie Land was much more peaceful when women ruled, it doesn’t take away the fact that they didn’t treat the Ken’s as well as they should’ve. I mean the Barbies’ don’t even know where the Kens’ live? And by the end of the movie, Ken was literally crying because he thought he couldn’t live without Barbie, and he had been neglected this whole time, I mean at the start of the movie the narrator literally says (I know it was a joke, but still) “Ken only has a good day if Barbie talks to him.” Ken was just desperate for validation and some type of respect, so when he came across it in the real world, even if he didn’t know how harmful patriarchy was, he was getting respect and validation. Hating the Kens is literally going against feminism, considering the movie was about men and women being equal. Please tell me someone agrees.
