Welcome to week 6 of the 2025 r/NFL What is going on?! The top three teams from week five lost. This isn’t just one of the most contested weeks in recent memory, it’s one of the most contested seasons in recent memory. The Buccaneers could deserve the top spot, but also played a game too close to a decimated 49ers squad before Baker went full bulldozer on a 3rd and long run. The Colts could deserve the top spot, but a close game to the Cardinals raises some orbital bones. The Lions could deserve a top spot, but after losing to a team who just lost to the Jaguars? Cases can be made as easily as they can be refuted, but that’s why we all love the NFL. Rankers ranked four different teams at the top in week 6 (Lions, Chiefs, Bucs, Packers), same as week 5. In bottom barrel news, there were also four teams ranked at 32 (Titans, Jets, Bengals, Saints). In most middling news, there were eleven teams ranked at 16 overall. Are the Giants too brain damaged to know they shouldn’t be stomping the Eagles like this, or are they actually turning a corner? Are the Steelers underrated for playing as expected, or overrated for playing as expected? Does a Raiders win count if it was against Tennessee? Discuss! 32/32 Reporting

| 1. | Buccaneers | +3 | 5-1 | The Buccaneers have won 11 out of their last 13 regular season games. It can’t go on like this, can it? This season really feels like a season for exorcising demons. The Buccaneers finally managed to beat backup QBs, they won in primetime, they even won with the retro jerseys. And this weekend Todd Bowles and Baker Mayfield finally beat the 49IRs. In a season where we are #1 seed in the NFC seed, the pessimist in me is afraid of what may come next. However, it seems like these are not the same old Bucs, and…aaaa! / Hey, sorry guys, the official Buccaneers ranker got injured while writing his blurb, it’s me, the backup here to tell you more about the last game. And… it was good. It was really good. |

| 2. | Lions | -1 | 4-2 | Just about everything that could have gone wrong on Sunday night did for Detroit, as they fell to the Chiefs 17–30. Coming in missing 4 of their top 5 CBs and their top 2 LTs, the team had their first TD called back for an obscure procedural technicality in classic Lions fashion; St. Brown had his first drop since Week 14 of last season on a crucial 4th down; and, to add insult to injury, KC had zero penalties called against them despite it being startlingly obvious that their tackles left a plurality of snaps early. All in all the down to down play looked good, but the Lions came up short at crucial moments in the margins, taking their second loss of the season as a result. Next week is a big one, as they welcome Baker Mayfield and the Bucs to town for what should be a very entertaining Monday Night Football game as the Lions look to get right against arguably the best team in football before the bye. | |
| 3. | Colts | +2 | 5-1 | It certainly wasn’t as pretty as the blowouts against the Dolphins, Titans and Raiders, but the Colts got their second comeback win of the season to hand the Cardinals their fourth straight loss — despite a great performance by backup QB Jacoby Brissett against his former team (and an admittedly decimated secondary due to the pregame concussion suffered by top CB Mooney Ward). Indy is now alone atop the AFC following the Bills’ shocking Monday night loss, and only the Bucs in the NFC have as good a record. Now the schedule starts to get more difficult for the Colts, with two of their next three games coming on the road against teams that are currently above .500 (three of four if you count their “home” game in Berlin). It’s their chance to prove those still doubting them wrong. | |
| 4. | Bills | -2 | 4-2 | Is it time to panic? The Pats are in first - not again!!! There are a myriad of stats that could help to explain what has gone wrong for the Bills this season from defensive failures to turnover starting to stack up. Instead of presenting stats, look at this list Saints, Jets, Dolphins, and Ravens. These are the teams the Bills have defeated this season amounting to 3 combined wins. Right now the Bills are beneficiaries of an easy schedule and don’t resemble a contender, much less Superbowl favorites. The bye week couldn’t come at a better time for the Bills who have to address many issues with the primary one being the DEFENSE. Don’t think even Josh Allen is immune to criticism as he has now thrown a pick in 3 straight games and is only 2 picks away from matching his total from all of last year. The Bills will have to improve with 3 of the next 4 games after the bye week coming against 500 winning percentage or better teams. | |
| 5. | Packers | +3 | 3-1-1 | Hey look at that! We played against a team everyone thought we should handily beat and then beat them! For the third game in a row the defense looked outstanding in the 1st half and then let teams walk down the field a little too easily in the 2nd. I worry that’s a depth problem that may not be easily fixed but getting Devonte Wyatt back on that DL would do wonders for us. Only 2 turnovers forced in 5 games is much different than the Hafley defense from last year, that’s also getting into the “troubling” category. We are at the top of the NFC North but there’s still so much room for improvement. | |
| 6. | Rams | – | 4-2 | A win is a win, but boy was that uglier than it needed to be. Unforced errors continue to be the season theme, with more drops, fumbles, missed kicks, and poor red zone offense on full display. However, those are all coachable issues, and the Rams have started this season much stronger than they have in year’s past, so some proper execution should put them on a stronger playoff path. | |
| 7. | Chiefs | +5 | 3-3 | 3-3 through the Rice suspension has felt like a great target all year. We hit that number on the nose with a dominant performance against a good Detroit team in a game that felt like it put the league on notice. You can tell the fear of the Chiefs never went away because 95% of the discussion about the game has been about the officiating, despite being one of the best officiated games for any team in years. Patrick is quietly putting together an incredible season and he gets Rashee Rice back for the first time since week 3 of the 2024 season. Oddly enough it feels like this team is a kicker and an edge rusher short of being one of the best Chiefs teams in the Mahomes’ era. | |
| 8. | Eagles | -5 | 4-2 | Winning covers up a lot of fundamental flaws. Trading 2 picks for Tank Bigsby. A severe lack of depth on the edge where your leader in sacks is a 33 year-old journeyman who may or may not surprise retire. An inexperienced OC who seems to be severely capping the potential of the offense. A quarterback who, despite being a reigning Super Bowl MVP that seems to put it all together under the brightest lights, is wildly inconsistent. An OL made up of four pro-bowl caliber players that appear to have taken a step back or be suffering injuries. Winning takes all of those things and then some, and sweeps them under the rug. So what does losing do? The exact opposite: the rug is pulled and blame is assigned to each mistake. Now, the problems were known before the losses; the Eagles sat at 4-0 without really pitching a complete game. But wins were wins, and the Eagles could at least say, “our B-game or C-game is enough to beat teams”. Well, not anymore, as a young scrappy Giants team ran away with a statement victory. Flashback to 2024, and the Eagles felt like they were in a similar place: 2 losses, not a ton of direction, a lot of question marks on one side of the ball. The team went into the bye, turned it around, and (eventually) managed to make th… |
