Dak Prescott, getting a 31-game head start over Patrick Mahomes, had 919 pass attempts before Mahomes got on the board. The differential stayed more or less the same until October 2020, with Prescott peaking at a 1,023 pass attempt lead on 10/4/2020. Mahomes chipped away at it over the next five years, getting with 500 attempts on 11/1/2021, and taking the lead for the first time on Christmas 2024 (Mahomes up by 12 attempts at that point). They’ve been neck-and-neck since, and exactly even at 4,354 attempts right now. See graph: imgur.com/a/nuGPJYf

The graph for career completions is very, very similar, as one would expect. Prescott started with a lead of 602 completions. Same as attempts, the difference peaked on 10/4/2020 (at 675) and Mahomes has been closing the gap since. Prescott is currently up by 25 completions, but Mahomes did actually have the lead for exactly one week. After the first week of this season, Mahomes had 2,802 completions to Prescott’s 2,801. Passing yards? Dak Prescott had a 6,812-yard head start. Patrick Mahomes got within 18 yards on 10/22/2023, but Dak managed to increase it to 1,402 on 10/13/2024, before losing the lead on 12/8/2024. See graph: imgur.com/a/X0j4FU7

Prescott started with a 44-touchdown lead. It got sliced in half almost immediately, reaching 19 on 11/18/2018. The difference flucuated between 14 and 20 for the next year before both players were tied at 106 on 11/29/2020. Mahomes has been growing the lead since then. See graph: imgur.com/a/BkurxBj

The last major counting stat is interceptions. Dak Prescott had 17 before Mahomes got started and Mahomes has never had the “lead” in this category. However, he has been sneaking closer, presently only down by 9. Late last season, Prescott got hurt, thus not throwing any interceptions, but due to luck, skill, and/or fate, Mahomes didn’t throw a single interception across the six games Dak missed.
