The Capture doesn’t seem to have much buzz online, but its a phenomenal show by the BBC with 2 seasons and third one to premiere next year. The show, in my opinion, is one of the best examples of exceedingly competent characters facing off against similarly adept adversaries in a cat and mouse game surrounded with intrigue and espionage.
The first season begins the story as a traditional murder mystery, while the 2nd ramps up to become a political thriller. The characters communicate with one another, have intelligent conversations, and make logical decisions to advance their own agendas. Never is there a sense of actions being taken for the sake of the plot, or melodrama to fill up air time. Each episode is immaculately paced and will leave you on the edge of your seat, occasionally needing to remember to breathe.
The plot itself is very topical, with themes and questions that only become more relevant each day. What role does the private sector play in national security? How does rapidly evolving technology affect a nation’s ability to protect itself and its citizens? Ultimately, how do we guarantee any information we receive is truly authentic?
I would highly recommend this show to anyone who was a fan of the Pitt, the Diplomat, or similar shows. Each season is only 6 episodes, making it very bingeable. Would love to hear thoughts from anyone else who has seen the show!
