This is a weekly thread to discuss football in the Big 12. Discussion should be limited to football in the conference.

Week 6 Results

  • #23 BYU 38 - West Virginia 24

BYU got off to a hot start and took care of business at home.

  • Baylor 35 - Kansas State 34

Outside of a pick-six, defense seemed like an abstract concept. Kansas State kicked a go-ahead FG with 1:48 left to play, then Baylor made a 53 yard FG to reclaim the lead with 31 seconds left, and the game ended on a blocked FG attempt that would’ve given K-State the victory in Waco. If you feel like going for a wild ride, rewatch the 4th quarter and look at the win probability chart.

  • Cincinnati 38 - #14 Iowa State 30

Apparently Vegas knew what they were talking about. Cincinnati jumped out to a 17 - 0 lead in the 1st quarter and then was able to hold off Iowa State’s comeback attempt. I think the refs just threw another flag…

  • Arizona 41 - Oklahoma State 13

Aside from their three turnovers, this game was all Arizona. Noah Fifita racked up 376 yards and 5 touchdowns through the air for the Wildcats.

  • #11 Texas Tech 35 - Houston 11

Texas Tech rolled out of Houston with a victory in this field goal kicking contest football game. Even though Houston did a decent job of keeping Tech out of the endzone, Tech was able to pretty consistently move the ball enough to get into field goal range. I’m still getting used to the idea of Tech’s defense being on par with or even better than their offense, but that seems to be the case now.

  • TCU 35 - Colorado 21

TCU had a 28 - 21 lead and was facing 4th and 6 from the Colorado 21 yard line with 26 seconds to play. It almost looked like they were going to ask their backup kicker to seal the game, but instead Sonny Dykes ran the offense out there and they sealed the game with a touchdown. For Colorado, this was the second straight week they jumped out to a 14 - 0 lead only to come away with a loss.

  • Kansas 27 - UCF 20

UCF came out strong and took a 14 - 0 lead on a pair of touchdowns from Myles Montgomery. Kansas then took over and pitched a second half shutout to seal the victory.
