Just so you know, I’m a foreigner so my English might be awkward. Anyway, I watched Desperate Housewives and I thought Susan was really annoying. She’s a terrible mother, friend, and human being (in my opinion). I was wondering why they put that kind of character in the show, so I looked it up on the internet. It turns out that most Koreans who watched it hate her, but they said characters like Susan are actually very popular in Western countries. I’m not sure if that’s true though. Also, I watched Sex and the City and felt the same way about Carrie. She’s so frustrating, and honestly I wouldn’t want a friend like her. But apparently she was super popular overseas too. So I’m curious — are these kinds of characters really considered charming or relatable in Western culture? Because most Koreans seem to really dislike those personality types.
